Steven P. Lanza

Steven Lanza received a B.A. from Union College, an M.B.A. from Cornell University, and J.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Connecticut.  As Associate Professor in Residence in the Department of Economics at UConn-Waterbury, he teaches economic principles, intermediate economics and other courses emphasizing applied economic analysis.  Lanza has long incorporated blended learning in his classes, thus providing students with flexible learning options.

For over 20 years, he served as an editor of The Connecticut Economy, a quarterly review published by the university’s Department of Economics, that offered objective analyses of data, issues, and developments in the state’s economy.  Cited by the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, his research has appeared in Economic Development Quarterly, Applied Economics Letters and elsewhere.  He currently authors The Connecticut Green Sheet, a quarterly newsletter on the state’s economy.

Dr. Lanza has advised the CT Department of Labor on current economic trends and prospects, has served on economic advisory groups to former Governors Rell and Malloy, and has consulted on legal cases involving economic damages. He is a past officer of the Hartford Area Business Economists.
